Their battery time is limited but then again, you could always change them and keep going. Its key feature is that it can be used for delicate trimming like shaping your shrubs.
Gas Hedge trimmers provide great power. They are specifically designed for tough jobs and heavy-duty trimming. They also have unrestricted mobility as they have no cords. The downside is, they use gas and emit gas fumes that can be a health hazard. It is not environment friendly. These types are also heavier and more expensive.

How do you wind trimming cord for an electric String Trimmer? Craftsman 4.6 amp model 745300.?
There is no booklet ( yardsale) & it seems something is missing ( a cover).
Without knowing the size of "string", I can only recommend that you contact a Sears Repair Shop, most cities have at least one, they will tell you the string size to buy. To replace it you have two options....A. buy a replacement cartridge (most exspensice) B. buy the line recommended, turn your trimmer over, and remove the piece that holds the string, you usually just have to push it in and turn it, some may require locking it and then unscrewing.....after it is off, if you look closely there will be arrows telling you the direction in which to wind the new string, when it is full, thread it through the hole and screw it back on. It is usually only a quarter or half turn to screw or unscrew.

What To Consider When Buying A Lawn Mower
Before buying your new lawn mower take some time to consider which kind of mower would be the best for you and your lawn. The following considerations will help you make a decision.
How big is your lawn?
If your lawn is small a push cylinder mower may be perfectly adequate and will give you a good finish and a smart lawn. For a bigger lawn you may want to consider an electric or petrol driven mower. If your lawn is much larger than the average then a ride-on mower would be more practical and easier on you.
How level is the lawn? Does it have banks and dips?
Where there are banks a Push Mower might not be sensible, and a ride-on mower would not be safe as it could tip over.
Do you require a tidy appearance, maybe with parallel stripes, or are you more concerned with the need to keep the grass neat and tidy?
What do you want to do about the grass clippings? Do you want a mower that gathers the trimmings in a box you need to empty or do you have the time to rake the clippings up once you have completed mowing the lawn. If you don't have time for raking you should consider a Mulching Mower that can chop up the grass trimmings well enough that you can leave them on the lawn so that they will speedily decompose and feed the lawn.
If you are considering a power mower make sure the lawn is small enough to reach all of it with an extension lead. If you plan to buy a petrol mower will all those who will be using it be able to start it without problems - many petrol engines can be tough to get going if they have a cord that needs to be pulled sharply.
Consider safety carefully. Lawn Mowers are dangerous to use so safety should take precedence. Look at features like power cut offs on electric mowers, how easy the mower is to overturn, how exposed are the blades.
Do you want a cylinder, mulching or rotary mower? Here are the main features of each:
Cylinder Mowers
These have a rotating cylinder with blades fixed to it in a spiral pattern and give the finest cut from any lawn mower. Confirm the mower has enough blades for your purpose - the more blades the better the lawn finish will be. Additionally check how wide the mower is, you will need to walk less with a wider mower but the downside is it will weigh more. Cylinder mowers can be manual push mowers or electrically or petrol driven. They often have a grass container to collect the clippings in addition to a roller to create stripes while you mow. These mowers are ideally suited to level lawns and shorter grass.
Rotary Mowers
Rotary mowers have a horizontal blade that revolves from the center of the mower. Because the spinning blade necessitates a Power Supply these mowers can't be purchased as manual push motors, but both petrol and electrical rotary mowers can be obtained. These mowers are more suited to uneven lawns and those with rougher grass than cylinder mowers. Although a rotary mower won't produce as fine a cut as a cylinder mower you can still get stripes by selecting a rotary mower with a rear roller.
Mulching Lawn Mowers
With a mulching mower you won't have to keep emptying a grass container, or having to rake the clippings from the lawn each time you cut it, and then get rid of the cut grass. They operate by recutting the cut grass into smaller and smaller pieces and then blowing them back onto the lawn. This requires more power than a conventional mower so these mowers will need a bigger engine. Some mulching mowers will also have a grass container if for some reason you need to store the trimmings instead.

I need advice on what type of lawn mower to buy?
Need to buy a lawn mower for my garden - medium size, but don't know which one. What is the difference between a rotary and a hover, and which one is better? What is the minimum power I should go for? Which are the best brands.? Many thanks.
I would recommend sticking with wheels, hover mowers are usually used on golf courses to keep the same height grass over mounds and hills, or when they don't want lines in the grass. Most people don't need them and they are heavy to carry around.
When I buy lawn mowers, I look for a few things. First, try adjusting the height. It shouldn't take much effort to change the mowing height. Next, try putting the Grass Catcher on and off; do this a few times. Make sure that it is simple and something you will be able to do easily with a full bag. I always check to make sure that the blade is not to much higher than the bottom of the deck. If it is, you will be dragging that deck through the lawn when you mow. You will also want at least 5 horse power. Finally, make sure it has Ball Bearing wheels, they roll better.
As far as brands go, it doesn't really matter as long as it is quality and meets the requirements above. I've had luck with Toro, tru-cut, Snapper (black hawk), Troy-Bilt, Murray, Lawn Boy, and sensation.
Engine brands are more important to me than the brand of the mower. Toro, Briggs & Stratton, and Kohler are my favorites. I've had lots of problems in the past with Tecumseh and Honda engines.
You can also spring for a self-Propelled Mower. They are nice if you are mowing a large area or skip a week of mowing while you are on vacation.

The Advantages of an Electric Power Washer
An electric Power Washer has many advantages over gasoline or propane-powered machines. An electric power washer is less noisy and generates no fumes, unlike fossil fuel-powered machines. This type of Pressure Washer also has other advantages that indirectly and directly contribute operational costs.
Cost Savings & Other Benefits
The main difference between electric and fuel powered machines is the need for a fuel. Electric machines do not run on fuel, and therefore will save the operator cost in purchasing gas, diesel, or propane. Electric machines are also easier to maintain, as operators don't need to clean up after fossil fuel spills and carbon buildup. They do not emit fumes. This ensures safety in both indoor and outdoor applications, as operators are not forced to breathe in toxic exhaust.

I am trying to find an electric air compressor that is less than 26" in hieght that will flow 10cfm @90 PSI
I need an air compressor that will fit in my pickup bed that will run a DA Sander. It needs to flow 10CFM @ 90 PSI. The bedcover on my truck only allows for a 26" Tall compressor. It can be 50" in length. I can only find a couple and i am looking for more options due to a limited budget. If you can find one i would be so greatful. Thanks
There is about a million different brands/types that will do what you want. Go to any hardware store with a tape measure and shop around.

How do I determine the correct multiplier for my electric meter?
I have a 4 dial electric meter in Dallas, Tx. It says "apply multiplier" but I don't see on the meter what the multiplier factor is. My electric company says its 40, but I'm thinking the multiplier is actually 10. Any suggestions on how to validate? (I fully understand the concept of the multiplier - just need to validate the actual factor).
My neighbors all seem to have 5 dial meters that don't use multipliers.

Everybody loves cookies. Whether for holiday treats or just to fill the cookie jar, you will find a cookie that will fill the bill. You can even make cookies from the cake mixes.
Here are some cookie recipes to try out today:
1. Almond Bars
Ingredients:
- 1 package white cake mix
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine - softened
- 2 eggs
- Almond Topping - (recipe follows)
Almond Topping
- 2/3 cup sliced almonds
- 2/3 cup butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon milk
Directions:
- Heat oven to 350º.
- Beat cake mix (dry), butter and eggs with electric mixer on low speed until dough forms or mix with a spoon.
- Press in bottom of un greased jelly roll pan, 15 1/2 × 10 1/2 × 1 inch. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown and crust begins to pull away from sides of pan or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Immediately spread Topping over crust.
- Set oven control to broil.
- Place pan on middle rack in oven.
- Broil 2 to 3 minutes or until Topping is golden brown and bubbly (watch carefully-Topping burns easily).
- Cool completely.
- Cut into 8 rows by 4 rows.
The Almond Topping:
- Cook all ingredients in 2-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring
constantly until sugar is dissolved and mixture thickens slightly.
2. Almond Bonbons
Ingredient:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine - softened
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 (7 ounce) package almond paste (7- or 8-ounce size)
Almond Glaze
Sliced almonds - toasted, if desired
Ingredient:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 4 teaspoons milk (4 to 5 teaspoons)
Directions:
- Heat oven to 375º.
- Beat flour, butter, powdered sugar, milk and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon.
- Cut almond paste into 1/2-inch slices; cut each slice into fourths.
- Shape 1-inch ball of dough around each piece of almond paste.
- Gently roll to form ball.
- Place about 1 inch apart on un greased cookie sheet.
- Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until set and bottom is golden brown.
- Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
- Cool completely.
- Dip tops of cookies into Almond Glaze.
- Garnish with sliced almonds.
Almond Glaze:
- Mix all ingredients until smooth and spreadable.
3. Almond Macaroons
Ingredient:
- 1 (7 ounce) package almond paste (7 or 8 ounces)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 egg whites
- 3 dozen blanched whole almonds
Directions:
- Grease cookie sheet.
- Break almond paste into small pieces in large bowl.
- Stir in flour, powdered sugar and almond extract.
- Add egg whites.
- Beat with electric mixer on medium speed about 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally, until smooth.
- Place dough in decorating bag fitted with #9 rosette tip.
- Pipe 1 1/2-inch cookies about 2 inches apart onto cookie sheet.
- Top each with almond.
- Refrigerate 30 minutes.
- Heat oven to 325º.
- Bake about 12 minutes or until edges are Light Brown.
- Immediately remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
- Cool completely.
- Store in airtight container.

Help! My electric oven won't turn off. How can I turn it off? I think it's to heavy to move to unplug.
I was cooking a meatloaf and went to check on it and the bottom heating element was sparking, so I turned it off. An hour later I went out to my kitchen, and it was so hot out there. I opened the oven and the heat is still on. I tried turning it on broil and turning it back, but that didn't work. I'm home alone and the stove is too heavy to move to unplug it. Any suggestions? I appreciate your help!

The reason that it wont Shut Off is that the element is broken and shorting to the case of the oven and running on 110V.
Shut off the breakers or remove the fuses. If you are in the U.S. the breakers will be double 50 Amp. If you are handy, you can replace the element. Its not difficult, but if you arent,
call for service before turning it back on. It sounds to me like
your stove is not grounded properly or it should have blown the breaker. http://appliancequickfix.com/ can explain more
