Choosing among, brick, concrete or interlocking pavers for your Outdoor Living space
Functional and aesthetics have become an important element for outdoor living spaces in our homes. Designers have come up with numerous sets of materials to make this area in the house more conducive to social or leisure activities, but at the same time, factors of the outdoors such as bad weather and exposure to a lot of other elements need to also need to be taken into the overall plan. Therefore, the choice of materials for this area of the house is imperative to the success of the design.
Architects and contractors have been using concrete for landscaping for quite some time now. Intricate walkways, garden paths, patios, driveways, and pool decks have been designed, with concrete as its base element. Concrete pavers have strongly gained popularity among designers and builders in the US because it is readily available and is cheaper than most decorative surfaces. It is also relatively easier to manage than, say, marble or tile. Furthermore, decorative concrete pavers now come in numerous colors and styles that can cater to almost any design aesthetic—from retro to modern; from minimalist to eccentric.
You can choose to keep it simple by using stamped concrete for the patio, with colored concrete for the counter tops. You can add grills and a dining table to complete the space. If you still have a few dollars left, you can opt to buy a waterproof rug to top off the look of your outdoor living room. The outdoor floor should encase the overall scheme of the area. You can choose from plain and solid colored concrete, to stained or stamped designs. Designers soften the presence of concrete tables and counter tops with a few small furniture like woven chairs and accent pillows.
Another alternative for your outdoor space's flooring is the use of interlocking pavers. These pavers look like uniquely shaped bricks except that instead of using grout to lock them together, sand is poured in between them to stabilize the whole layout. This type of floor actually absorbs a degree of shock from earthquakes and slight ground erosion so they are less likely to crack. Many parks in metropolitan cities are paved with these interlocking surfaces because they have a European feel to them. Commercial contractors are even asked to lay entire city blocks with this type of pavement. However, some people still choose brick pavers over the interlocking ones because like colored concrete, cricks have also evolved into various shapes, patterns, colors, and sizes. They are also relatively cheaper than the other type of paver mentioned above.
Lounging by the pool or having a barbeque by the pool side is a family activity most Americans enjoy. Having a functional and well-designed pool deck adds to the enjoyment of such events. Choosing the material for the pool deck often depends on the surrounding landscape, dimensions of the space, traffic, maintenance, and budget. When budget is a big factor, using concrete is the way to go. It gives the deck a unique look, it is low maintenance, and it costs less than any other material from your set of options. In addition to this, concrete's versatile character allows it to mimic the look of bricks or natural stone. If you have the freedom to allot a bit more money for your pool deck, flagstones are a clean yet stylish option for the material. They come in big and small sizes and in bold or neutral colors. If you want a sleek look for your deck, this material is for you. Designers also call this material “bluestone.” The only downside to them is that they easily absorb heat upon exposure to the sun and have the tendency to get slippery.
A combination of flagstones, brick, and concrete can also be part of your options. Designers usually recommend this when constructing a new deck or when you decide to do a little pool remodeling. Updating your pool deck does not always mean tearing away the old concrete because builders now do pool deck resurfacing. A concrete overlay is applied on the original deck and is sculpted, stained, colored, and given texture depending on your preference. It is a cheap yet safe way to give your deck a new look.
Wooden decks are also gaining popularity among homeowners, however, using this material costs more and is likely to last longer.

preschool outdoor floor plans?
i am looking for a sketch of wahat a preschool outdoor should look like.
if you are already teaching or working at a preschool ck out your old school textbooks, look at playgrounds at local preschools and ck out your local library, whether at the local college or public library for early childhood teacher books, or look up playgrounds
remember that just like indoors preschoolers need to have a variety of play areas, outdoors there still needs to be a dramatic play area, sand(or sand and water) art, bicycle/tricycle area, climbing areas and try to be sure there are some shaded areas, also you can check with your local licensing agency to be sure you do not include items no longer allowed on preschool playgrounds--in california for example there are very specific rules for swings/slides.

Security floodlights fall in to two categories one being domestic/household the other being commercial/industrial. The most obvious difference being the size and power of the floodlight.
The most commonly found domestic floodlight is the standard 500 watt PIR tungsten halogen floodlight. This floodlight whilst being bright is far from perfect for normal domestic use.
When using a 500 watt lamp this fitting is costly in consumption cost and lamp cost, the reason being the lamp gets too hot in most enclosed fittings and shortens lamp life (These lamps have an expected lamp life of between 1500-2000 hours) but in reality this can be reduced to 500 hours. Running cost for this floodlight are high at around 5 pence an hour considering this lamp only produces around 18 lumens per watt which falls well below the 40 lumens per watt for energy efficient lighting standards. Over the last few years due to spiralling energy costs and more concern for environmental issues a demand for low energy floodlights with a Long Life lamp has emerged.
A number of solutions meet this requirement, the best suited to domestic use being Compact Fluorescent lamp models, whilst not being as bright as the 500 watt tungsten halogen lamp versions these are far more suited for domestic use. One of the easiest ways to change to CFL lighting is a retro fit lamp for standard 118mm tungsten halogen lamps. This lamp is a 24 watt model about the equivalent of 120-150 Watt Halogen lamp which is adequate to light up a patio area for general illumination.
The running costs for this lamp is 95% lower compared a 500w halogen lamp with cost as low as 0.003p per hour and an environmentally friendly 52 lumens per watt. One the most popular CFL floodlights is the 2 x 26W PLC version which has a light output comparable to 300 watts halogen.
The main advantage of CFL's is the running cost and extended lamp life which can be anything from 8,000 hours to 20,000 hours depending on lamp and ballast combination. Another advantage of CFL's is the option to change the lamp colour from a soft Warm White(2700k) which is ideal for summer evening barbeques or a standard white (3500K) which is suited to general illumination and also available are cool white(4000K) and daylight (64000k) which are best suited for use with CCTV use(more about this can be found in the commercial industrial section). One of the recent developments in floodlights is Led Technology, these floodlight are now appearing on the domestic market and although they have an initial higher cost this is offset by running costs and lamp life. A floodlight with a 160 LED cluster uses only 8.5 watts of power to produce XXX lux along with an expected lamp life of 50,000 hours making this extremely economical to run. LED lighting is certainly the one to watch in for the future as it is improving rapidly.

Playing Table Tennis Table Outdoors
Table tennis is normally played indoors. This is to create a controlled environment that is favorable for both players. But during the summer, those who still want to play the game can do this outside.
Those who don't have a table should probably get the model that can be used both for indoors and outdoors. Such models are usually water and rust proof so that it won't be damaged when it gets wet.
These usually come with wheels and are collapsible in the center making it easy to assemble and disassemble after a few games. People who play the game often can even get a small tarp so protect it from dust while it is in storage.
The most important thing to check when looking for a table is how well does a ball bounce on the surface. Studies show there is a big difference perhaps because of the coating and those only those who are serious about the game will notice the difference.
Tables made of metal makes the balls bounce a little slower than those made of wood. The same thing can be noticed among the different brands being sold in the market, which is why only one that is up to standard is used in major competitions.
If the weather is hot inside the house, perhaps it is time to move the table outdoors. A good game can be played on concrete and not on grass because of the uneven surface.
Does the game always have to be played using a standardized table? The answer is no. After all, people are only doing it to have fun so it is not always necessary to use the 9 x 5 foot model.
The person should just make sure that the net is placed in the middle of the court. The same rules apply regardless of the length of the table. The player will just have to get used to playing on a longer or a shorter playing area than the original one.
Before playing the game, both sides should get if the lock for the net has been securely fastened. A similar one should also be secured on the ground so that it will not move when exchanging volleys with one another.
A rust and waterproof table tennis table can be purchased at the sporting goods store or online. A basic model is a little over $100 but those who want the whole nine yards will have to shell out more than $700.
The tables are easy to assemble. Someone from the store can deliver this to the home and assemble it or this can be done by the new owner.
The best way to make sure it is in Good Condition all the time is to wipe it using a cloth before and after playing. The hinges and the wheels should be oiled from time to time making it easy to set up. Lastly, this should be stored in a cool and dry place to prevent it from bumps and scratches.
Table tennis is an interesting sport. The person should just buy the balls, the paddles and the net separately or save a few dollars since some models are sold in sets. The biggest investment will be the table but when everything is ready, it is time to have some fun.

I would call your local Michael's or other large craft store and ask them for help. There are special paints you can bake in an ordinary oven - some you cannot! You will definitely have to apply a sealer.

Uniqueness of French Baroque developed after 1660 when 21 years old Louis XIV took absolute control of the France. He was also known as a ‘Louis the Great’ or ‘The Sun King’ because of his military, politics, social and cultural successes. His personal extravagance let most of the artists perpetuate his greatness and absolutism forever. It was great time for architects like Louis Le Vau and Jules Hardouin – Mansart.

His first known works were rebuilding of Château de Vincennes, old 14th century royal castle and contribution in building of Château du Raincy. But his first reputable masterpiece was Hotel Lambert build between 1639 and 1644. Its main features are irregular shape and entrance ranged onto the central square. Extended wing from back to the Right Side is embraced by walled garden. In 1655 he put his contribution in interior of Saint-Sulpice Church. Well known today for the sake of ‘Grand Organ’, one the world’s biggest. As a first king’s architect in 1656 he get commission from Nicolas Fouquet to rebuilt his residence Château Vaux-Le-Vicomte. Located in Maincy, 55 km from Paris, built between 1658 and 1661, surrounded by a moat similar to many contemporary chateaux. Front of the castle has rhythmic, massive presentation. In central place dome is situated as characteristic for baroque buildings. The great innovation was to create the garden, planned together with the building as an extended interior’s views. It was created in symmetrical, geometrical shape with fountains, sculptures and extensive borders. It is worth to mention another building designed by Le Vau which was church of the Collège des Quatre Nations. Symmetrical in shape, topped by dome with pedimented entrance underlined by column and pilasters. Roof crowned balustrade gives almost classical rhythm. Between 1660 and 1670 he went together with other artists, to rebuild and extend other Parisian building, The Louvre Palace from 12th Century. Le Vau works were completely new south wing; restore Galerie d’Apollon destroyed by fire in 1661, designing Galerie d’Hercule. Both galleries were panelled, opulent carved and painted. Walls decoration includes s-shaped ornaments often gilded. Ceilings were painted trompe l’oeil. Huge windows divided by repeated pilasters give theatrical impression. His last year Le Vau spent as a part of ‘Versailles team’ to create the biggest royal commission, The Palace of Versailles as a Centrum political, social and cultural domination of France under the Europe. To his work belong for example part of garden façade and the rooms in the southern part of this extension like queens apartments.
Jules Hardouin – Mansart He was born 2 years after Le Vau’s Hotel Lambert was build, in year when his uncle Francois Mansart’s Château de Maisons (now Château de Maisons-Laffitte) was finished and Church of Val de Grace was still under construction. It was the time when French Baroque was hatching. He grew up in artistic aura as a son of painter and the grandnephew of an architect Francois Mansart, studying French architecture in classical order. His first commission were small Château du Val and Hôtel de Noailles in Saint-Germain-en-Laye Both buildings created between 1674 and 1679, and both to bring in new type of architectural structures, characterised by single – form object with strong, horizontal line. His first remarkable commission was Château de Dampierre in Dampierre-en-Yvelines. Again single buildings were built, but in neighbourhood of other objects organised symmetrically. In distance from front façade the iron – double gate is ranged. The space between is dry paved in cour d'honneur order. On the back of complex park is situated. The new solution was used Mansard Roof, developed and popularised by his uncle. Other small objects were build in the same period, for instance, Château of Clagny, designed for Madame de Montespan. Today not existing, except plans of it. The great achievement of French architecture was development of existing project of Chateau de Versailles. King Louis XIV wanted to build the objects never seen before so engaged the biggest artist that time. As a king’s architect Jules Hardouin - Mansart put great contribution towards this royal challenge. He was responsible for addition of Garden Façade with Le Vau, erection of next wings which extended central block to north and south, symmetrically, created Hall of Mirrors also built The Grand Trianon and The Royal Chapel. Simple but huge in scale gallery was open for the garden by ‘French Windows’, repeated in regular rhythm. Opposite wall reflected shape of the windows in ‘Venetian Mirrors’, which duplicated the outside view. Vaulted ceiling with gilded stucco, painted in fresco with allegorical scenes richly framed with fruits ornaments. Symmetrical hanged immense crystal chandeliers. Rest of parts of walls were divided by marble pilaster, lavish decorated with plaster. In comparison with it The Royal Chapel’s interiors is restrained in form, colour a decoration. Central space with marble floor in red and black geometrical pattern. Simple arcade and balcony with lines Corinthian columns on side, vaulted and painted ceiling and the tall windows make this space pure and clean especially because dominant colours are white and gold in some places. He also created some of the Versailles’s gardens vasques, basins and sculptures. Between great architectural the achievements of J.H Mansart were urban projects, Place des Victoires, Place Vendôme and Pont Royal, so characteristic for baroque philosophy of architectural expanding and theatrical impression. Both places were created for glory of King Louis XIV. Mansart was not only originator of circular Place des Victoires or rectangular Place Vendôme but also designer of most of facades around. His last glorious works were The Chapel of the Virgin of Church of Saint Roch and the most Parisian domes churches famous Les Invalides Church. The façade of the building is stepped with groups of horizontal and vertical columns, pointed by carved pediment. The most spectacular is masterpiece in the proportion of the dome supported by drum and topped by lantern. All rich gilded.
Achievements of both Masters were so great that they were latter echoed by other noble architects across the Europe.
