Years ago I set out to find the absolute best water filtration system in the world. I had tried many water filter systems from a local store. I found that system and it is called the Berkey Water Filter. What should the setting on a paint gun be to apply clearcoat?
i have a devilbiss gti with all the fluid tips to it and i recently did my car a kandy blue and the paint laid out real nice but when i put the clear coat and it dried it is very dull looking and has no shine at all. Can anybody give the steps from start to finish on how much pressure to have to spray pattern. When i did it that time i also had a little compressor and cheap gun so i think that had something to do with it but i'm not sure.

Most people, myself included, thought all you need to power wash something was high Water Pressure and maybe a little heat (as in warm water). But there are several more elements that determine the effectiveness of your power washing jobs. The basic three ingredients to pressure washing is water (both in its presence and temperature), pressure, and detergent or chemicals. Combined, these three elements can create a pretty significant environment for optimal cleaning. However, remove or decrease one just enough and the entire environment changes.
Almost everyone is familiar with the relationship between oil and water right? Which is precisely why simply firing up your Pressure Washer and blasting the driveway with hot water isn't necessarily going to get it as clean as you'd think it would. You need to have a detergent that is going to break down the grease and oil, not just water.
The same applies for any surface you're trying to get clean with a Power Washer. Most commonly used on decks and fences, these washers are known for making wood look as good as new. However, what many don't realize is that even though it may look good immediately after spraying, the mildew and mold they think is gone is only going to come back a short time later. In order to really clean a fence and/or deck, you must use something that will effectively kill the mildew. The best thing for this is oxygen bleach.
Oxygen bleach comes in powdered form and should be mixed with water and possibly a powered all purpose home cleanser or soap as well. Generally 1/4 to 1/3 cup of oxygen bleach to gallon of water should be fine for killing mildew and mold on fencing. As with any pressure washing job, you'll want to start in an area not in plain view as to get a feeling for how the cleaning will affect the overall look of the wood. As with any wood also, you want to make sure you're using the right tip. To be safe, don't use anything less than a 30 degree tip when power washing wood surface. Something like a 15 degree tip used for concrete will be too direct and may splinter or ruin the wood.
Whether you're pressure washing your deck or vehicle, the same three elements come into play in helping you effectively clean with your power washer. Remember that using the correct pressure washer detergent is important to successfully killing such things as mildew or cutting through tough stains like grease and oil.

An all-powerful pressure washer typically sprays water at high pressures to clean large surfaces such as buildings, patios, sidewalks, farm equipment and roadways. Nothing says fun more than shooting dirt and debris off something with a power pressure washer. Your standard Power Washer is equipped with a High Pressure pump and reservoir, spray hose and nozzle, and an electrical cord. You simply fill the reservoir and use a water hose to connect it to the water supply. Next plug in the power washer and you are totally ready to commence power cleaning.
The small electrical units has a nozzle pressure of over 1400 PSI, which is an astounding amount of pressure. A word of caution, please be careful as this much pressure can really hurt you so keep your spraying confined to inanimate surfaces only. Speaking of pressure, make sure you have the correct unit for the job. For instance, if too much pressure is used, you can take the paint off virtually any surface instead of just cleaning. However, if the intention is to clean and get rid of old paint off surfaces such as porches or decking, than a High Power washer is the way to go. Well, another application is cleaning the aluminum siding on your house, which is very convenient when no maintenance to the outside of your house has not been done for quite some time. Or how about cleaning the driveway, just start up that power pressure washer and away the dirt, stones, and anything else standing in the way of a clean drive.
In any case, power Pressure Washers can be simple and fun to clean many types of large surfaces, particularly when used in a safe manner. So if you have a a couple of overdue big cleanup projects waiting to be completed, look forward to a faster completion time with less effort by buying or renting a power washer.

power washer on low pressure taps?
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows if a pressure washer will work at all well running from a tap with low pressure? Using a hose on the taps to wash my car has driving my crazy! I can get a fine spray but thats about it!

A pressure washer has a built in pump to up the pressure. To do this, you have to have enough water volume to the pump for it to do it's job.
I have a cabin where there is low pressure/volume. I use a pressure washer there, and it seems ok. About all you can do is try it.

Enhance Your Power Washing Business With Pressure Washer Accessories
Once you’ve made the initial investment of a good, powerful pressure washer it will benefit you to take some time to explore all of the pressure washer accessories available. Pressure washer accessories can optimize the list of services you can offer customers and put you ahead of your competitors.
Pressure washer accessories, such as GFCI cords and plugs, brass couplings, hose restrictors, good pressure gauges, winterizing kits, battery boxes, unloader valves can extend the life of your existing equipment. They can also just simply make your job easier and more professional looking.
To expand the list of services you offer, consider adding a sand blaster (medium to Heavy Duty equipment is available) or sewer jetter (can clean pipes and tubes from 1†–6†in diameter) to your system. Chemical injectors are a necessity when you need the extra cleaning power of chemicals. There are high or low-pressure chemical kits with adjustable chemical injectors. There are metering valves, nozzles for distance or maximum pressure, and systems that save your pump, lance, hose and gun by having the chemicals by-pass them.
Add the service of duct cleaning to your repertoire, and shine above the competition even more. Made to be corrosion-resistant and with self-lubricating bearings, the Swiss made carbide swivel duct cleaner is one great pressure washer accessory. Working with hot or cold water, duct cleaners clean any kind of duct, vent, chimney, or chute. And don’t forget the market for cleaning restaurant hoods and trash chutes and even kegs and barrels.
Some surfaces can be cleaned with pressure and cold water alone, but many cleaning jobs will go faster with (and some downright require), hot water. Using portable dams and drain covers, and a closed vacuum, state-of-the-art filter, and holding tank system, this wash water filter set-up makes sense economically and environmentally too.
For ease, comfort, and professionalism, there are pressure washer accessories such as foot valves (lets you operate the pump from a distance), extension wands and brush attachments, carts, skids, hose reels, magnetic starters, and so much more they are hard to list here. It will benefit the pressure washer owner to know of the many accessories available and their applications. For instance, by checking out the accessories available, you would learn that simply adding a rotary nozzle would increase cleaning power and efficiency for large, flat surfaces. A rotary nozzle uses centrifugal force and is 200% more efficient than a 25° flat fan nozzle. Sounds like the timimg belt is off 5-10 degrees advanced to much on the set-up of the timing belt in the beginning or it just jumped.

Leaking gas on Pressure Washer?
Filled Gas Tank on pressure washer and before I could even start it, all the gas ran out near the Air Filter. I checked for leaking Gas Line
You do not provide the make , model and or type of pressure washer so the answer will be very generic.
The most likely answer is a sticking float in the carburetor. This can sometimes be cured by GENTLY tapping the bowl that houses the float. If this does not stop the flow then you will probably have to do a thorough cleaning of the carburetor. When you have the carburetor clean it should be reassembled with new parts from a Carburetor Rebuild kit. I suggest that if you have a flexible Fuel Line that you use an inline filter to keep particulate out of the carburetor.
