Online Wheel & Tire Shopping 101
Shopping online makes life much easier. you can sit on your couch, watch TV talk to your family and friends and not worry about some pesky sales person. This holds true when shopping for wheels and tires as well. However ordering wheel and tires online is much different then orderig a MP3 player. You must be carefull to make sure you are getting the correct fitment for your vehicle.
Tire shopping is a little easier. if you are just replacing your tires then it is easy. You can just search your size, find the tires you want and click the order button. However if you are upsizing then it gets a little more tricky. you need to make sure they will fit. You can use an online tir size calculatir such as http://www.barretire.com/calculator.htm . The Tire size calculator will compare your current tire size with the new tire size. This will help you determine if the new tire will work. thecalculator will give you such figures as tire height, sidewall height rev per mile etc.. It will even tell you how much your speedometer will change.
Ordering wheels or rims online can be a little more tricky. Man y websites allow you to input your vehicle to help you determine fitment. This helps tremendously howver be sure you know the exact year make and model of your vehicle. An example woul be that in 98 Ford Escort came with 2 different bolt patterns depending on the model of Escort. If you are ordering your wheels strictly by bolt pattern then make sure the offset will work. Find out your stock offset and get wheels as close to that as possible.
Plus sizing is a ppular way of buying wheels today. the important thing to remember when plus sizing is to keep the same offset and circumference.You can use the Tire Size calculator above to compare tires to see the circumference. Most tire retailers online will have reccomendations for your specific vehicle.

If I drop my truck how wide of a wheel and tire can I fit on my truck?
I have a '94 S10. I just recently bought a 3/3 drop kit for it. I want to put some new wheels and tires on there, but I dont want to go to wide after dropping the truck.
You would need to measure the width of your wheel well, also remebering the you need extra room to give the tire room during turning corners. If you need wider, you will have to do major body work to the truck to widen the wheel well.
My opinion is to keep the width of your current tire and just buy low impact tires to increase your wheel size limit.
